First Presbyterian Church, Cuero TX COVID-19 Mitigation Plan
Outdoor Worship
Worship will continue to be made available online through Facebook and YouTube. All who are ages 65 or older, or have health issues (asthma, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, or otherwise auto-immune compromised) should worship from home. If you have any signs of illness, stay home.
Those who worship in person should:
- Take their temperature before leaving home to assure they are fever free.
- Wash hands or sanitize as you arrive (hand sanitizer will be available).
- It is recommended that worshippers wear a washable cloth or disposable face mask. Disposable masks will be provided for those who want one. Disposable, or washable, gloves may be worn but are not required.
Worship will take place in Chapel Without Walls (outdoor pavilion) and will begin 90 minutes earlier than usual (at 9am) to avoid heat. We will use social distancing guidelines (no hugging, handshakes, fist bumps, or physical contact of any kind).
- Restrooms in the pavilion will be available. Church building will remain closed (fellowship hall, offices, nursery, parlor, restrooms, & sanctuary).
- There will not be a nursery attendant available.
- Printed bulletins will not be used.
- We will not celebrate communion & we will not sing, during worship outside.
- Families residing in the same household may sit together; all other households and individuals should be at least six feet from one another.
- Chairs will be set up spaced apart from other chairs. Those who wish to sit with members of their households may get a plastic pavilion chair from the cart to put by the preset pairs. People are welcome to bring their own chairs, to sit spaced at least 8 feet from others not in their household.
- Those who wish to visit after worship are asked to vacate the pavilion as soon as possible, taking their own chairs with them, and leaving all plastic pavilion chairs where they are, to be put away by volunteers or church staff.
- Outdoor pavilion chairs will be thoroughly sanitized with biocide between worship services, before being stored in their cart.
- Attendance will be taken at the beginning of the service (to have a record for contact tracing should it be necessary).
- Tithes and Offerings may be placed in a basket, but it will not be passed.
- Church building will be closed to gathering until further notice.
- Adult Sunday school will continue to be held via Zoom.
- Pastors & office administrator are available by phone, text or email. The office remains closed to the public until further notice.
- A memo outlining these procedures will be mailed to members and friends of FPC; and will be made available on our church website, and Facebook page.
These guidelines are subject to change.
